The PGA Championship was one of the worst major championships I've covered in my seven years in this job. Once Tiger took the lead Friday afternoon, the tournament was over. Everyone knew it.

What became the story was Woody Austin and not just because of his run, but his post-round comments. I like when someone says they can beat Tiger, but he went above and beyond on Sunday.

"We can go through our rounds. I outplayed him on Friday, but he beat me by seven shots," he said.''

You could ask a two year old if that makes sense. How did you outplay him if he beat you by a touchdown? Woods lipped out a 12-footer on the 18th hole Friday. If he made it, Woods would have the lowest round in the history of major championship golf. The history of it.

So I guess Austin thinks he has essentially the best round in golf history?

You didn't. Not even close.

Again, for the I don't know how manyth time, don't talk about Tiger. Say you think you can beat him and leave it at that.

No one collected any points in the PGA Championship, although I won the golf pool at The Sports Network.

First blog from the PGA Championship as this tournament is boring me to tears. This was over the second Tiger took the lead on Friday. Woody Austin is going to threaten Tiger's lead huh?

The reason for the post has to do with Sergio's DQ for signing an incorrect scorecard. My friend Ryan Morris just called me and asked how this can happen in this day and age of technology.

"I'm blown away by this," he said.

His point is that why not have a scorekeeper following the players. It's not a bad idea but I guess that would fly in the face of tradition. This seems to be an avoidable offense (or he could thoroughly check his card). Enough people walk with the pairings.

Just a thought in between yawns.

First things, Jay Williamson firing his caddy on the course and grabbing a guy in from the gallery is awesome. The player/caddy relationship is a tricky one but it's not like you wouldn't get canned from your job immediately if you messed up badly.

Next, I can not emphasize how little I care about Annika Sorenstam using Tiger's yardage book at St. Andrews. (I like her to win this though.)

Italian golfer Alessandro Pissilli has been suspended for two years for failing a drug test. He plays on the highly-vaunted Italian Tour, but I guess some guys are doing. Do you think this was who Gary Player had in mind?
