First of all, let's discuss the Masters.

1.) If I have to read one more story that in any way refers to Zach Johnson as an unknown, I'm going to punch a wall. The guy played on the United States Ryder Cup team last year. That means you aren't toiling in anonymity.
2.) Johnson played spectacular golf on the back nine. They say that the Masters is won on the back nine Sunday and four birdies through that stretch qualifies. Johnson's chip on 18 showed big ones, as well.
3.) Johnson is a fan of Jesus.
4.) Tiger time. Anyone honestly believe he wasn't going to win after the eagle at 13? We can talk about the shot in the water at 15 (probably should have laid up from the rough near a tree when you look back on it, but I probably shouldn't have gotten that tattoo at Brendan O'Neill's bachelor party also.) The shot that got him was missing the eight-footer for birdie on 16. He never misses those putts. Ever.
5.) masters.org was an amazing tool this week. They had interviews up on the site in real-time, the Amen Corner angle was fun and the Masters extra one hour before helped. The real shock was how quickly you could navigate through it, since you have to assume all golf fans were logged on.

Now, a quick non-golf thing - Don Imus should be fired and any defense is ridiculous. What he said was racist and the idea that he was trying to be funny and missed is the most idiotic reasoning not to punish him.
Nor is the idea that he's being suspended during sweeps and that the ridicule and embarrassment he's sustained is punishment enough. Heard Mike and the Mad Dog on WFAN in New York say that when a white person is branded a racist it never goes away. No one has ever called me a racist and you know why? I don't make racist comments.

On to the Editors' Challenge. Learned a valuable lesson this week - when you use Tiger, he better win otherwise it's wasted. I was the only one with any points as Tiger tied for second.

Gerard Gallagher (1) - Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, George McNeill, Robert Allenby, Troy Matteson, Luke Donald, Mike Weir, Retief Goosen, David Toms, Jesper Parnevik, Johan Edfors, Sergio Garcia, Lucas Glover, Phi Mickelson.

Kevin Currie (12) - David Toms, Davis Love III, Ryan Moore, David Duval, Jeff Quinney, Justin Leonard, Robert Allenby, HENRIK STENSON, Rich Beem, Sergio Garcia, Kenny Perry, Scott Verplank, K.J. Choi, Vijay Singh.

Mediocrity (5) - Stuart Appleby, Rory Sabbatini, Scott Verplank, Robert Allenby, Justin Rose, Mike Weir, Adam Scott, Padraig Harrington, Carl Pettersson, Charles Howell III, Darren Clarke, David Howell, Jose Maria Olazabal, Tiger Woods.

This week is the Verizon Heritage and this is one of those events on the schedule that you save for one guy.

G - Davis Love III
KC - Billy Andrade - "Decent record here plus he is fresh since he didn't play at Augusta."
JB - Davis Love III - "Five wins and a runner-up? Yeah, I'll take him."

i totally disagree with you about mr. imus. yes, his comments were racist, deplorable, disgraceful, awful, intolerable, regrettable, reprehensible, etc. However, he has been like that for 30+ years. to take him seriously is absurd. he made a mistake and he's apologized. even coach stringer says she didn't think he firing would be appropriate. and to go on al sharpton's radio show, only gives sharpton creditibility and he has none.

i hope you are happy now. CBS' caving into the pressure from advertisers. well, i wonder what is going to happen to the radio-thon next year (he alone brings in over $20 million) and his ranch for cancer kids in NM. those are the same advertisers. was he wrong yes, but fired. you got to be kidding!
